Bird control is an issue that many homeowners and business owners face daily. Some birds, such as pigeons in particular, are considered pests and need to be deterred from causing building damage. I hear it’s more of a problem for business owners or commercial building owners than homeowners, but nonetheless, these pest birds make it difficult for some to keep control. Here we’ll review some of the popular methods of pest bird control.
The first few methods I’ll review here are those that in fact very simple in how they work to help with bird control. First there are bird spikes or pigeon spikes. There are some made of polycarbonate, which is a really tough, long lasting, and unbreakable material. Then there are bird spikes manufactured out of stainless steel or plastic. These are easy to install and very low maintenance. The bird spider is another method that prevents pest birds from landing.Again, this is a very tough and functional item.
Bird slopes are yet another form of bird control. These slopes are too slippery for birds to roost on.Another method to keep pest birds off is the use of a bird gel, which birds avoid because its sticky! These forms are incredibly harmless for the birds. There are also some technological advances to help keep pest birds away. There is an electrical shock system that keeps birds away without actually hurting them. This is another easy way to keep the birds from landing on your building.
Clearly, there are many types and forms of pest bird control available such as bird netting or pigeon netting! What you choose will depend on your own style and what’s economical for you. I think they’re all rather clever and would be open to using any of them.Keeping these nuisance birds away from your premises will lower the spread of diseases that some of these birds carry. Of course, they mean you no harm…they’re just birds! But they can cause problems when modern construction meets with nesting and living practices of birds.Using any of the above listed methods will not harm the birds and simply move them on somewhere else. I’m sure you’ll agree that it is important to protect our wildlife by gently pushing them to nest in safer places.
